Obituary for J. Quade Jr.

Memorial Services for J. Quade of Athens, Texas are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Athens with Pastor Kyle Henderson officiating.

Mr. Quade passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2016 in Athens, Texas.

J. Quade was born August 5, 1966. He was the son of Jerry Mel Quade Sr. and Mary Ruth Black Quade. He graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Texas A&M University. He married the love of his life Kelley Heathman, on September 16, 1989 at Spring Baptist Church in Spring, Texas. They started their family a few years later in the Dallas area. J. worked at Bayer in the Animal Health Care Sales Department which brought them to Athens where they decided to raise their two children, Dani and Paden. They have lived in Athens for nearly seventeen years. J. worked tirelessly for his family and was a 5 Time Recipient of the prestigious Bayer Sales Council Award. He enjoyed going to church and spending time with family and close friends. His favorite hobbies included practicing all the sports his children were involved in and teaching his children how to raise livestock animals. Dani and Paden were involved in FFA and the Horizon 4-H Club showing steers and pigs and through this J. eventually became the President of the Henderson County Livestock Show. He was a loving father, caring husband, and dedicated working man who impacted so many lives through the cattle industry and through the love of baseball. Through baseball he coached a select baseball team all the way to the state tournament where his team won two years in a row. J. later became a partner of the On Deck Sports Pro facility in Athens. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Athens, the Athens Chamber of Commerce and the Texas Cattle Raiser’s Association. J. had a unique sense of humor and an unquestionable love for Jesus. He was a loving husband, father, and brother and will be missed by all those he touched.


He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife of twenty six years Kelley Heathman Quade of Athens; two children, Dani Quade and Paden Quade of Athens; one brother Joel Quade of Austin; brother-in-law Gary Heathman of Athens and nephew Jerid Heathman of Athens.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens.
