Memorial services for Maggie Nell Ford, 90 of Athens, Texas are scheduled for Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Lake Athens Baptist Church under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
Maggie Nell Ford passed away October 10, 2016 in Tyler. She was born in New York, Texas July 17,1926 to the late Byron and Jimmie Lou Richardson. She was the oldest child of four. In 1942 she met and married the love of her life, Vivian Lewis Ford of LaRue. They were married for 67 years.
Maggie Nell was a hard worker. She always said her middle name was work. She and Vivian worked together in several businesses they owned including Dairy Queens in Dallas and Tyler, The Dairy Mart in Malakoff, B&B Café, Country Kitchen, and Ford Petroleum in Athens and the Baxter Store. She was a Christian and an active member of Lake Athens Baptist Church. She served as Secretary of her Sunday school class.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Byron and Jimmie Lou Richardson, a son Richard (Rick) Ford, a brother John David Richardson and three great grandsons, Jerrod Rachel, Mark and Matthew Snowden.
She is survived by sister Mattie Lou and Bill Campbell of Athens and brother R.B. and Peggy Richardson of Athens. Daughter Glynell and Billy Don Rachel of Azle, Dewayne and Rhonda Ford of Granbury, and Lanny Ford of Athens. Grandchildren Michael and Lori Rachel of Cross Roads, Michelle and Phillip Foster of Azle, Melissa and Richard Rosamond of Azle, Jennifer and BJ Maycheck of Granbury, Kayla Ford-Reedy and Jay Reedy of Athens, Kelly Ford-Munoz and Alex Munoz of Puerto Rico, Chris and Jennifer Ford of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Jessica and James Greathouse of Athens, Jacqueline Ford of Athens and Lani Kaye Ford of Cross Roads.
Great grandchildren Rachel and Creighton Morris of Azle, Rebekah Foster of Azle, Austin Randall of Panama City, Florida, Alyssa Randall of Azle, Jason and Megan Rosamond of Azle, Joey Rosamond of Azle. Great grandchildren Ann Marie and Ayden Maycheck of Granbury, Joshua and Jonathan Snowden,and Krista Reedy of Athens, Elaina, Emilia, Stephanie and Jordan Munoz of Puerto Rico, Elizabeth and Collin Patrick of Mississippi, Jordan Sutherland, Tucker Nix, Addison Roberts, Cynthia Greathouse, Brayden Spurgeon and Garrett Glasgow of Athens, Liam and Lyla Rosamond of Azle. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
