Athens – Funeral Services for Retha Odessa Day Inmon, 79, of Athens will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 12:00 P.M. at the Living for the Brand Cowboy Church in Athens with Bro. Charles Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens and will be under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Ms. Inmon went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 16, 2016 in Athens.

Retha Odessa Day Inmon was born April 3, 1937 in Athens, Texas, the daughter of Raymond Eugene Day and Mary Odessa Gunnels Day.

Retha was preceded in death by her parents, step father Reagan Dingler, and brother Ronnie Day.

Retha was a member of the Central Baptist Church, the Auditorium Sunday School Class and was active in the seniors group at her church. She was a well accomplished self-taught piano player. She loved Elvis, was a lifelong devoted fan who loved traveling, especially her treks to Graceland.
Retha was a graduate of LaPoynor ISD. She began her clerical career at the Henderson County courthouse and then moved to Dallas to work for Pitney Bowes. She married Bill Inmon, lived in Corsicana and loved his three daughters as her own. Retha later worked as an Executive Secretary where she was well known for her expertise in short hand in her position with Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Dallas. She eventually retired as a secretary at TDC. Retha was also a Licensed Beautician. She loved jewelry, started her niece a James Avery bracelet when she was 13 years old and later gave charms to all her girls. She loved her family and was dedicated to their care.

She is survived by her sister in law Teresa Day; niece Nicole and Jeff; nephew Jonathan and Amanda all of Athens; great nieces and nephew, Jayden, Emma Jo Riley, Emma Ryleigh, Madison, and Elizabeth; a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be Friday October 21st at 10 to 11:30 am at the Living for the Brand Cowboy Church.

Pallbearers are: Steve Chapman, Gary Gunnels, Hal Collins, Ken Bledsoe, Kenneth Taylor, Walter Morman.
