Athens – Funeral services for Melba Winn, 84, of Athens are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Warren officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park.

Ms. Winn went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 23, 2017 in Tyler, Texas.

Melba Joyce Temple Winn was born October 16, 1932 in Fulbright, Texas the daughter of John Temple and Georgia Izora Watson Temple. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Athens and was also previously a long-time member of the Central Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, NASCAR (Jeff Gordon) and especially her Dallas Cowboys. Nana’s true love was her family with a great emphasis on her grandchildren and great-granddaughters. She spent every waking hour raising her family and took great pride in them. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by all she knew and loved.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband K.C. Winn Jr. her parents and her four brothers, Tully Temple, Talma Temple, Robert Temple, Johnny Temple and one sister Irene Temple Gordon.

She is survived by her daughter Charlotte Frederick and husband Jim of Poynor; her son Tres Winn and wife Berta of Athens; five grandchildren, Russell Page, Ryan Page and wife Blair, Taylor Winn and wife Kelsi, Casey Winn, Kaitlyn Winn; two great granddaughters, Blake and Bryce Page; special friends, Peggy, Peggy, Norma, Faye Nell, Bobbie, Jo Gordon and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Russell Page, Ryan Page, Taylor Winn, Casey Winn, Chris Womble and Brian Horton.

In lieu of flowers the Winn family would like donations made in her memory to the Henderson County Humane Society or a charity of your choice.

Visitation will be held from 6:30-8:00 P.M. Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens.
