Graveside services for Martha Williams, 93, of Athens are scheduled for 3:00 P.M., Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens. Services will be under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Ms. Williams went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 6, 2017 in Athens.

Martha Eden Burdette Williams was born August 21, 1924 in Temple, Texas the daughter of Sydney Elden Burdette and Vera Adams Burdette. She was a devoted Christian woman, who loved to read her Bible, was a religious scholar and a prayer warrior who supported numerous Christian organizations and charities. Her hobbies included her amazing seamstress skills and visiting the beach. Martha was an RN whose career spanned many years and she took great pride in taking care of her patients. She was a truly loving mother and grandmother who will be missed by all she knew and loved.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband George H. Williams and a great-granddaughter Brittany Williams.

She is survived by her children, Sharon Walker and husband Ronald of Athens, Warner Williams and wife Denise of Houston, Sheila Williams of Athens, Janet Turner and husband Terry of Houston; ten grandchildren, Lori White and husband Wesley, Christopher Walker and wife Hilda, Susanna Parsons, Melissa Williams, Michele Tristan and husband Mike, David Williams, Michael Fuson and wife Holly, Kellie Tharp and husband Brad, Jamie Simpson, Bobby Lawson and wife Michelle and twenty great grandchildren.
