Obituary for Marlin Dale Belcher

Athens – Graveside Services for Dale Belcher, 60, of Athens are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 6, 2017 at Myrtle Springs Cemetery near Athens and will be under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.

Dale passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017 in Athens.

Marlin Dale Belcher was born July 6, 1956 in Jacksonville, Texas the son of Marlin Douglas Belcher and Doris Dunklin Belcher. He served in the U.S. Navy and was proud of his country. He enjoyed fishing and playing pool and poker. He loved being the center of attention, always telling stories and jokes, yet would give you the shirt off his back in a heartbeat. He was a family man who loved his momma, his kids and especially his grandkids. He will be greatly missed by all those he knew and loved.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his loving mother Doris Belcher of Athens; his fiancé Leah Lawyer of Athens; his daughter Kristin O’Brien of Athens; two adopted children, Kylee and Kenzii Dodd both of Athens; two sisters, Gail Garrett of Athens, Pam Bostic and husband Mark of Frankston; three grandchildren, Laure O’Brien, Dylan Wright, River Alexander and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations made to a Disabled Veterans Charity or a Charity of your choice.

Honorary pallbearers for Dale’s service will be Kevin Sessions, David Smith, Jason Robbins, Carl Thornton, Bobby Alexander and John Cooper.
